๐ผ Nursery Reveal ๐ผ
Today, my husband and I celebrate our 13 year wedding anniversary! We actually got married at the courthouse about 6 months prior to our wedding so we always have a little debate on whether this is considered an anniversary. I like to recognize both the wedding and marriage ...so happy anniversary to us!
During the day the room gets plenty of natural sunlight and has a great view of the front yard's giant oak trees. The front windows of the home are unique - they slide open to the side rather than opening up. I hung oversized floor to ceiling blackout curtains in bright white to give the illusion of larger windows and block light until we’re ready for baby to get out of bed in the morning. I added big wood letters over the window because I just love my kid’s name so much!
I curated the space with some of my favorite art selections from The Phillips Family Permanent Collection:
- a triptych print of Hokusai’s The Great Wave,
- a panoramic, custom framed print of Monet’s Waterlilies we collected from L’Orangerie in Paris
- a metallic antique map Todd rescued and restored with an artisanal framer in New York City
It makes me so happy to collect art from places and artists that we love. Art is the home's jewelry - it completes the look!
I also love collecting furniture and I got to use two of my favorite accent tables for this room: a restored pedestal table with a decoupage octopus and a mother of pearl mosaic drum table. Books from friends are scattered across for bedtime stories with the boys. I love the warm glow of the salt lamp during late night feeding sessions.
I really wanted to paint the ceiling of the room but have not yet since we have (gasp!) popcorn ceilings. Having that removed is definitely on my list. A fun fact about the Nursery: it is the one room of the house that features crown moulding! I really like it so have also added that to my renovation wishlist. Projects are piling up but we are here for it!
I hope you enjoyed this sweet tour of the room I spend most of my time in since welcoming Keanu to the world. I really find it to be calm and serene which is what I was hoping to create for my babe.
